The Southern sea otter was hunted to near extinction for their pelts. Fortunately a small population near Big Sur, California survived and the population is recovering. I am fortunate to live near the Monterey Bay and can see these feisty little acrobats!
I love to watch otters! This one was enjoying quite a feast of mussels at the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf!
