There are not enough places like the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary to protect these noble icons of the American West. Battles with ranchers on government owned lands for grazing rights is a constant source of tension and often results in deadly round-ups of the horses. Compromise needs to be found and protections upheld so future generations can live to see horses running free on the plains.
Horses can be very playful with each other. This mustang from the Black hills Wild Horse Sanctuary in South Dakota was getting cheeky with the other giving a playful tug on his mane to entice play.
