When asked by our guide what we hoped to see and I answered "wild dogs" he laughed. And yet a couple hours later there we were in South Africa watching these beauties as they ran through some brush. Rarely seen, they are often on the move.
African wild dogs, or painted dogs, are one of the most endangered canids. They are stealth ambush hunters working in a pack. Rarely seen they inspire awe!
