I love to watch the little oxpecker birds hop around on animals much larger than they are, filling their bellies and ridding their hosts of nasty parasites. They will crawl inside the ears and even noses of the ominous African Cape buffaloes! In this piece they almost seemed to be having a conversation!
The oxpecker birds do a great service to many mammals by removing ticks and other parasites from the skin. In doing so, they get a free meal. A great example of friendships in nature!
