Sundowner

  • I was sitting alone in Montana when I heard the bison approaching a small stream near the road. As I watched quietly he came up and got a drink. I can still hear his gentle slurping. The setting sun glistened like diamonds on the water drops. In Africa it is a tradition called "Sundowners" to have drinks with friends and watch the sunset, though I wasn't in Africa this title seemed to fit!

This American bison was drinking at dusk on a bison refuge in Montana. I spent many hours waiting to catch a closer glimpse and my patience was rewarded!

The original oil painting is SOLD!
